Sigmund Freud was one the first to be intrigued by the developmental reasoning involving children. Freud was focused on the abnormal mental disorders of children. He determined a need to establish the importance of childhood experiences and events. Freud is credited for the stages of development called Freuds stages of psychosexual development. Others who spun off of Freuds stages were Erikson, Piaget, Vygotsky and Skinner who developed childhood stages as well. Research has not revealed a true direct impact on the education system. Teachers are among the frontline forces on being counselors for students. Freuds concept of defence mechanisms is seen students; especially those considered At-Risk. A student may protect against threatening feelings which is called isolation of affect by Freud. Sigmund Freud thought teachers must adjust to the a childs inner self in order to reach a state of compromise. This would seem to be a common sense approach to travel the least rugged road. Freud's scientific discovery of the unconscious mind gives an understanding of the role of motivation in aspect to learning. Intrinsic motivation and the nature of motivation are imperative for effective learning. This is significant to the learning theory and the educational theory. The emotional nature of motivation for learning is a key aspect of educational theory of the so-called paradigm of education for development of the person as a whole called holistic education. Hubbard, M. (2012). An associate of Freud; Carl Jung scornfully wrote, "your technique of treating your pupils like patients is a blunder. In that way you produce either slavish sons or impudent puppiesI am objective enough to see through your little trick." (Gedo, 2002). There is division among those who have studied Sigmund Freud. They either have much criticism or total admiration for Sigmund Freud and his impact on the study and workings of the mind. There are those who believe Freud will remain in the phychology curriculum for decades to come. It is the opinion of this writer that Sigmund Freud had an inflated ego, id, and superego. Freud seemed to observe his patients as guinne pigs instead of the compassion. I have an extreme problem in dealing with the fact this man did not believe in our Lord and Savior, Jesus; let alone our Father in Heaven. My heart is sadden when anyone has to stand before God on Judgement day without Jesus by their side. Freud believe he was the only person who could determine what is and is not psychoanalysis. His self absorbtion led to his superego declaring psychoanalysis was his creation alone. I believe in all we do thanks should be given to God for the knowledge and direction which led us to success. Freud was an athesist which causes automatic reservations about his teachings on the human mind. Was Freud a tool that Satan used to cause Gods children to focus on the negative in ones past? I am not an advocate of negativity or dwelling on the past since Jesus washed away the sins of the past. Although, many people turn to psychoanalysis for answers I choose to turn to God for His resolutions to my problems. Freud ended his life stating in the Future of an Illusion life is cruel and almost unbearable; therefore people had invented gods as an illusory solution. Life seems less terrible when people feel they can turn to a supernatural being for protection, and the promise of an afterlife quells the fear of death. (Mack, 2006, p. 351). In closing, my God lives not as an illusion but as a reality in my life. There is no fear of death when the final destination is the home of my Father and Jesus Christ. Reference List
