Mikayli Booth English 1010-060 Professor Nathan Cole Course Self Reflection 5 December 2013

The I.E.P. paper was the final assignment that was given in my English 1010 course. I will tell you the process in which I completed the assignment and what difficulties I had while working on it. I will also tell you how this paper shows the learning process and what I learned based on the course objectives. The process to complete this assignment started out with doing research. I started with a very specific search and then had to broaden it in order to find enough information. After I had enough information, I came up with the three points of view and started working on the body of the text. Once I had the body of the text I came up with the conclusion and the introduction. When the rough draft of the paper was completed I had it reviewed. I went through the draft, fixed all of the grammar and spelling mistakes, and added a few more things to finish the paper. Once I made these changes I had other people review it. That was the process I took to complete this assignment. I had a difficult time completing this assignment because my topic was so narrow and specific that there wasnt a lot of information on it. I found a couple sources that really helped me and gave me good information but there wasnt enough to finish the paper. I had to broaden my topic in order to find the information that I needed. That was the only issue I had doing this final project.

When I started college the only way I knew how to write essays was to write five paragraphs; the introduction, three body paragraphs, and then the conclusion. I learned this not necessarily the case, you can have as many paragraphs as you need in your essay. I have also never heard of MLA formatting. I know there are still some things with it that need to be perfected but I am making progress and getting better every essay I write. This paper demonstrates my progress based on the English 1010 course goals dramatically. At the beginning of the year I had never actually heard of ethos, pathos, logos, kairos. Now, I know what each of them mean and have touched on them in this final project. I have learned how to draw the audience in and, if it is an argumentative essay, consider each side. I have had this draft peer reviewed and have made some changes, grammatically and added more to the essay to better the end product. One weakness I still have and need to work on is citing sources. I am not sure how to do in text citations but I do know how to do the works cited page; which I didnt know how to do before. So it is apparent that I have learned many things this semester regarding the English 1010 course goals.
