Managing Expectations: An Essential Project Manager Feature Conclusion/s From the data that has been gathered and analysed by the researcher, she came up with the following conclusions:

Expectations are well elaborated mathematics where it is readily measured and quantified.

Project Expectations are exactly the opposite of expectations. Project expectations are immeasurable. Project expectations are generally based on perceptions, opinions, and other soft parameters.

Managing stakeholders expectations are managing the scope of the project.

Communication plays a big role in expectation management. Perception and reality must be balanced in terms of the team and the stakeholders.

Unrealistic expectation must be addressed quickly. Requirements management is important as expectation management.

Based on the generalized statements that were given above, the researcher can therefore conclude that expectations can be easily measured and quantified by expanding the Project Managers view in terms of possible scenarios, risks, dangers, advantages and setbacks. Using these factors Project Managers can now measure how heavy or light the expectation will be based on the project that was given to him/her and he/she can easily count the possible options to meet the expectations and the project manager can prepare for the next actions to be taken to reach the expectations of the clients because in a project, Client Expectations are extremely important because they will be the one to judge if the project manager handled the job really well. Managing Expectations: An Essential Project Manager Feature that a project manager will do, good performance counts for the most part of success that a manager can achieve. In this chapter, the researcher can also conclude that, Project Expectations and expectation itself are a big contrary to each other. Project Expectations is immeasurable because it is based on perceptions (on how will the client expect the work or the project), opinions (such as additional features or improvement), and other soft parameters. While expectations are measurable because as a Project Manager you are well aware of the situation as well as the clients background and a project manager is really conscious about the companys expectation on how well can he/she create and work on the project. Aside from that, the researcher saw that managing stakeholders expectations are always paired with how the manager will manage the scope of the project. Because above anyone else, stakeholders will be the most affected ones in your project because they are the one who will use or benefit in the system and they are also your main client in the project. To achieve these things, as a project manager, you must communicate really well with your co-workers and the client so that both sides will be familiar on the rules that must be considered in making the project and the workers will work as a whole unit and with full cooperation. It is a project managers responsibility to weigh down the personalities of his/her teammates and equilibrium must be observed to avoid having personal issues during the development of the project. He/she must always remember that to achieve a good project, being on the same page is extremely important as stated above, client satisfaction is the ultimate achievement of a team especially for the project manager because he/she is the one who managed during the development times. On the first part of the conclusion, it is discussed that a project manager must perceive well. But, there is always a thing called reality. A project manager must not perceive things that are out of the limit or range of the project. He/she must think precisely and he/she must weigh down or check if his/her perception is possible or way too impossible. In the early parts of development, a PM must always check for unrealistic expectations. If the client states something that is really impossible to achieve, the client must be addressed quickly for possible changes or removal of a Project Management PUPQC - 3

Managing Expectations: An Essential Project Manager Feature particular part of the system being develop to avoid mistakes during the latter part of the development. Worst, if the mistake was only discovered during the deadline or if the system was deployed already. Lastly, as a project manager, managing requirements expectations is a big key because on the first place, this requirements are the things that your clients wants your team to do. Failure to achieve these requirements can lead to failures, disappointment, and worst, removal from the project. To sum things up, a Project Manager must be a critical-thinker, decisive, flexible enough for changes, a good analyst, somehow a good quality assurance checker and most importantly, he/she is a good communicator and a team player.
