Because I had the chance to get my genre essay looked over by my group members and professor, I now know

most of the few points that Im missing and therefore, need to revise. Specifically, for my introduction paragraph, instead of defining what a genre is, I have to reread the articles of Noel Carroll and Kyle Bishop to help me develop a definition of a horror and zombie genre. By using a few quotes, I will be able to explain how Dawn of the Dead ties together with both the horror and zombie genre. In addition, I will have to include a few main rhetorical situations when first introducing the film. Not only will I summarize the story, but I will also use Carrolls interpretation of a horror in Nature of Horror in order to enhance my explanation on how the film fits with the horror genre. And as for my thesis statement, I will introduce a few horror and zombie conventions that I will be using throughout my body paragraphs. Following my introduction paragraph, I now have a clear understanding in what I need to accomplish in the two conventions that I will use for my body paragraphs. For the convention that will be used in the second paragraph, I will need to exemplify how this specific convention is similar to what we see in other horror or zombie films. Instead of choosing an obvious convention such as the appearance of the zombie, I will try to dig in deeper and find another ambiguous one. Furthermore, for the second convention that distinguishes Dawn of the Dead from other films, I need to compare it to another previous film, 28 Days Later. Otherwise, my next alternative is to compare Snyders remake to Romeros original. In order to accomplish this though, I have to watch the original Dawn of the Dead and focus on how these two films are different from each other. Moreover, when explaining the conventions, I will use a few Yale film terminologies to describe each individual scene and include a quote or so from a credible source. And lastly, for my conclusion paragraph, I will use what I have written in my body paragraphs and clarify just how Dawn of the Dead fits in with the overall horror and zombie genre. Subsequently, since it was the first zombie film created following the September 11 attack, I will also state the fact about how the film led to many more zombie films to be produced. Likewise, I will end the conclusion with my understanding of how the film reflected and related to any cultural anxiety that followed.
