ABSTRACT

1. AUTOCAD DRAFTING
First of all, we drafted the assigned project structure in AUTO-CAD, with each and every specification properly mentioned. This is done so that we need not have to see the design of structure on sheet every time.

2. MODELLING IN STADD-PRO
Then we did the modeling work in STADD-PRO. This is done by selecting node points, which represents columns. Whole structure is then made by linking steps. This will make our structure ready for loading purposes in STADD-PRO.

3. LOADING
After we are done with modeling, we apply loading on our structure. By applying loadings, we will come to know weather our designed structure in capable of withstanding the loads without failing. There are 3 types of loads

3.1 DEAD LOAD - (DL)

The self weight of the structure is considered in STAAD-Pro internally for the modeled members based on geometry and unit weight of material. The following loads are applied particular load case: Brick load: Density 20 kn/m3 Load due to slab: For 125mm thick slab, Area load = 3.125 kn/m2

3.2 LIVE LOAD - (LL)

Live load of 5kn/m2 on ground and first floor. Live load of 3k/m2 on the rest of floors

3.3 SEISMIC LOAD - (EQ)

Seismic Zone 4 loading applied in STADD-PRO.

4. LOAD COMBINATIONS 4.1 SERVICE COMBINATIONS DL + LL DL + EQX ( EARTHQUAKE IN +X DIRECTION) DL EQX DL + EQZ (EARTHQUAKE IN +Z DIRECTION) DL EQZ DL + 0.8 (LL+ EQX) DL + 0.8 (LL - EQX) DL + 0.8 (LL + EQZ) DL + 0.8 (LL EQZ)

4.2 STRESS COMBINATIONS1.5 (DL + LL) 1.2 (DL + LL + EQX) 1.2 (DL + LL - EQX) 1.2 (DL + LL + EQZ) 1.2 (DL + LL - EQZ)

5. DESIGN OF RC ELEMENTS
After applying all load conditions, analysis of structure is done in STADD-PRO. This will provide us with actually needed crosssection of members and also the amount of steel needed to be provided in it. Analysis of member design can also be carried out in EXCEL sheets.
