Young- Breasted Experience- The Look and the Feeling Main Idea: This is about womens breasts are viewed as objects. The narrator explains how men view women as objects because of their breasts, how they are only viewed as toys. Question: Why do men only view womens breasts as objects? Connection: I have seen many guys, and even many that I know, that only view breasts as objects and do not view women as a whole. 2. Richards- Body Image- Third Wave Feminisms Issue Main Idea: This is about how women need to fight for their equal rights. Instead of just sitting there and accepting to be objectified, they need to open their mouths and stand up for themselves. Question: Why dont women stand up for themselves so that they can push themselves to be treated as equally as men? Connection: I see women constantly being objectified in television shows, they focus on the mens reaction as a beautiful woman passes by that is just showing off her looks and women do not really say anything about it. 3. Hartley- Letting Ourselves Go- Making Room for the Fat Body in Feminist Scholarship Main Idea: This talks about how women learn from a very young age that their bodies are not perfect in any way, to find many flaws, and to take care of the problem as soon as possible. It is planted in their minds even before they reach high school. Question: Why do young girls believe that they may be overweight or believe that many other things may be wrong with their body.

Connection: Everybody sees why young girls are learning that their body needs to look a certain way in order to be beautiful, such as Barbies, they play with them and look at them thinking why they cannot look as beautiful as the Barbie. 4. Pitts- Reclaiming the Female Body- Women Body Modifiers and Feminist Debates Main Idea: Women being objectified has been around for centuries, they have only been viewed as someone to reproduce with and they were forced to do things so they can be beautiful, such as the foot binding in China. Question: Why are women still being objectified, after the hurt they have come from? Connection: Men have actually come a long way since the 1800s. Even though women are still objectified, they still have gained many rights throughout the centuries.

Summary: This article talks about how women are seen as objects, and are judged by their looks. It shows from research that women become more insecure about their bodies the more they are stared at and creates more problems with them throughout life. Assess: This is a good article because it explains that you are able to tell that women are objectified by simply looking at a magazine at a grocery store. If a women is on the cover, you can tell that they are being objectified and men are checking them out.
