Delaware Senate Democratic Caucus Website Usage Policy

1. Purpose This policy provides guidelines for the content of the caucus website, operated at the State of Delawares expense. 2. Scope of Use The Delaware Senate Democratic Caucus website may only be used for official government activities relating to the caucus. The use of the caucus website for promotional, commercial, or campaign purposes is prohibited. 3. Responsibility It is the responsibility of the President Pro Tempore, Senate Democratic Chief of Staff, Senate Democratic Deputy Chief of Staff, and Director of Communications to oversee the content posted on the website, and to ensure that the use of the caucus website is consistent with the requirements established by this policy and any applicable laws and rules. 4. Prohibited Use/Content a. Political Content i. Content that specifically solicits political support for caucus members or any other person or political party, or solicits a vote or financial assistance for any candidate for any political office is prohibited. ii. Content that mentions a member as a candidate for political office, that mentions a pending election, that advocates the election or defeat of any individual, or that advocates the passage or failure of a ballot proposition is prohibited. iii. The caucus website shall not link to the website of any campaign, including ballot measure campaigns, or any political party, committee, or organization. b. Personal Content i. Content shall pertain to official government activities of the Senate Democratic caucus. ii. Matter which constitutes or includes any article, account, sketch, narration, or other material complimentary and laudatory of any member on a purely campaign-related basis, rather than on the basis of personal and non-campaign accomplishments is prohibited. c. Promotional Content i. The solicitation of funds for any purpose is prohibited. ii. The placement of logos or links used for personal, promotional, commercial, or partisan political or campaign purposes is prohibited. iii. Any promotion of a commercial product or service is prohibited. 5. Links to External Websites a. The Delaware Senate Democratic Caucus website can add a link to any government website that is publicly available unless directed not to by the agency that owns the site. Acceptable federal government-owned or government-sponsored website domains include .gov, .mil and .fed.us. The website may also link to: quasi-government agencies and websites created by public sector/private sector partnerships; state and local government sites (e.g., www.delaware.gov); and some government-sponsored websites that end in .com, .org, or .net. In addition, the website may link to certain news or news commentary websites which

contain materials the website administrators believe to be useful or of interest to website users, provided that such sites meet the standards contained elsewhere in this document. b. The Delaware Senate Democratic Caucus website will not link to any website that exhibits hate, bias, or discrimination. c. Furthermore, the administration of the website reserves the right to deny or remove any link that contains misleading information or unsubstantiated claims, or is determined to be in conflict with the policies included in this disclaimer. 6. Privacy a. The Delaware Senate Democratic Caucus website does not collect personal information when you visit our website unless you choose to provide that information. If you do choose to provide information to us, it is only used to fulfill your request for information. b. We do not collect personal information for any purpose other than to respond to you (for example, to respond to your questions or provide subscriptions you have chosen).
