Topic of Lesson:
Check Subtraction with Addition

2.OA.1 Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one- and two-step word problems involving situations of adding to, taking
from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.

What standards did you plan to demonstrate with this video?

2.NBT.5 Fluently add and subtract within 100 using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship
between addition and subtraction.

Describe the degree to which you accomplished your goal:

Began by demonstrating with an example of the lesson. Work through 6 examples of using addition to check subtraction, and then students work independently on 6 examples. Do 3 word problems together. Assign homework. Students got much practice during this lesson, and also I was able to integrate other mathematical concepts that were previously taught (such as fact families).

Self-Analysis of My Teaching: How were you successful? What can you improve?
I taught the children the content of the lesson, while also incorporating previous lessons to help review the chapter. I could improve by doing hands on activities to give students a kinesthetic and visual aid to help them learn and understand.
