Artifact Reflection Title of Experience/Artifact Date Experience Completed DESCRIBE ARTIFACT I had the opportunity to reflect on my pre-professional day

session that Deidre Dillman and I presented for pre-professional days. I reflected on if I believed that the individuals were engaged and participating during our session, if the activities they participated in made them become more health literate and follow positive health behaviors, and also how I would decide to alter objectives, goals, mission or activities of this session for representing it. I was graded on answers to my reflection on how it was and how it was useful. I have included my reflection on PreProfessional Days Presentation, feedback, rubric of presentation, worksheets handed out, and PowerPoint. ALIGNMENT REFLECTION Wisconsin Teacher Standard Alignment I believe my Pre-professional Day Reflection best aligns with standard seven, Reflection. Reflection: The health promoter is a reflective practitioner who continually evaluates the effects of his/her choices and actions on others (clients, volunteers, and other professionals in health promotion community) and who actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally. This artifact addresses standard 6, Communication. I chose to align here because reflection is something that should be done after everything is taught, so you receive feedback on how you can change certain elements if need be. Through this I was able to see what I needed to work on and change if I was to present this in the future. As you can see by my feedback my reflection was excellent and was very insightful on what I could change and also what went well. This is a very affective way on looking back on your work to see how you can improve, because you could always make things better. UW-Platteville School of Education Knowledge, Skill, Disposition Statement Alignment This artifact best aligns with KSD4a, Reflects on Teaching. Reflects on Teaching: The candidate makes an accurate and thoughtful reflection of his/her teaching effectiveness, is aware of specific elements of his/her teaching that contributed to successful instruction, and can offer alternative teacher action to predict the future successes of alternate approaches. This artifact addresses KSD4d. I chose to align here because reflecting on teaching is an important thing that should be done every time you teach. I had to reflect on my session and see if my audience was actively engaged and learning about positive health behaviors. I wanted to make sure that my audience had become more health illiterate. I also had to make sure I reflected on myself and how I was going to help myself change things for the next time I present. This is a great way to help me become a better health promoter. Secondary Alignments: KSD4d PERSONAL REFLECTION: What I learned about teaching/learning from this experience. I have learned from writing a reflection on my session will help me teach it better later on. I have learned by doing this only makes you better and not worse. Everything can be improved and made even better. I learned that reflections help receive feedback on how you are teaching to others. This helps you become aware of your elements and things you know you shouldnt do and also things that you can repeat down the road. I also have learned that writing a reflection helps you evaluate the strengths and weakness that I may have that I can change for future ideas. This helps me evaluate not only what I have done, but if they students/clients have gained anything as well. What I learned about myself as a prospective educator as a result of this experience/artifact: I have learned that this will impact me as a health promoter become more aware of things I need to change to help my students/clients. Being able to reflect on the plans I am setting forth for my clients will help me become a better health promoter. I will learn from each session to become a better leader and individual. I have learned that I can gather reflections from my clients on how they feel they are doing and if they feel like they need more or less. I will be able to gather their reflections to make myself become a better health promoter. No client is the same, so I will have to try new things and communicate with them by having done reflections. This way I know what I am on the right track or if I need to change some things. I can always change things and make them become better than what they already were.
