Female Dominance Since the early years men have always been portrayed as the dominant ones and females as the ones who are less competent to handle a mans work. That standard was set throughout the society for many years and both men and women followed those ways. As the years went on women began to fight or their rights and were tired of being treated as weaklings that they made their voices heard and gained more rights. In todays society gender roles have changed drastically and in some cases many have switched roles. Society has a major role in the way each gender sees themselves and each individual must decide for themselves as to how they want to be perceived, because either gender can be dominant in todays society. A case which has been very controversial is whether women and men can compete in the same sport against one another. The leading argument behind not letting women compete with men in sports is due to the fact that people suggest that males are superior and more dominant and women cannot keep up with the high standards men have. One case that has been controversial is the Lindsey Vonn case, because they did not let this woman compete with other men, because they felt she would not be fit to go against the top men. She was definitely disappointed with their decision and was very appalled by it and is still fighting against them (1). She has definitely proven herself in the womens field, but the people still do not let her compete and the best possible answer to this would be to let her try to compete, so then she can truly see for herself whether she is capable or not.

Etaryan 2 Military combat is another major issue that the government has been debating about. In the latest news the government passed a law allowing women to compete side by side against men in the combat forces. In an article by Eleanor Cliff, she states, The reality is that anyone in a uniform in a war zone is in combat. This is recognizing the reality of warfare today and the tremendous contribution women make (1). Women have gained many rights and have proven themselves willing and strong enough to be side by side with men. The reason why men are known as the stronger ones is because, Testosterone, gives men a bigger and better-fueled engine (1). Men might have higher testosterone, but women sure as hell can do a great job as well. The ideology behind male vs. female dominance is to create a more perfect union. It is so that both men and women can be treated with equal rights and not be over looked upon, because of their gender. The way of trying to create a better union starts from relationships, because that way we accept one another and are equally dominant. One way that is perceived as creating unity with the opposing gender is relationships that are polygamy. A polygamist relationship is a relationship shared with multiple people who are all together. Some say that Its just what feels healthy, happy, and natural for them and that can honestly be true for some, but there are other issues surrounding that as well (1). The reason in which that can be perceived as creating a more perfect union is because more people are in the relationship so more people get along and it can expand where more and more people get along with one another, hence the idea of a perfect union by getting along with the opposing gender. To create a more perfect union within the society both men and women need to learn how to work and coupe with each other so dominance can be over looked at. One of the ways men and women portray dominance is in relationships. One gets to see who controls the relationship

Etaryan 3 more. In a couple that I had observed to see which gender empowers over the other I noticed that the female was the one who was more dominant and that truly shows that the society has changed since the earlier years. Women are truly capable to do a mans job in this society and can even do a better job than some men, but that is not the case always. In my opinion women have definitely proven themselves to society that they are capable of handling a mans job. Since women were always portrayed as weaklings and less dominant by society they were raised in that sense. Now in todays society they were tired of being treated as less dominant so they got their voices heard and created a generation of women that they even overcame men in some cases. When it comes to relationships some women are being the dominant ones and the men arent. That is not the case for all, but back in the days that would have not been happening, because all men were the dominant ones in the old days. The technological advances that we have had over the years has made a big impact on this, because of the way people interact and that is why some women are more dominant, because they are not used to handling their business face to face, instead they prefer behind a screen. The idea that polygamous relations can create a more perfect union to me is bogus, because a true relationship consists of two people who love each other. In the film Jerry Maguire, the character Tom Cruise is portrayed as man who is always in the need of having someone there for him. So in a way one can say he is the less dominant one, because he always falls under the charm of women and needs them to keep moving on. He uses Renee Zellweger as a rebound for his failure with his ex-wife and in the beginning he is portrayed as the dominant one in the relationship, because he takes control, but near the end the roles switch and she becomes more dominant by taking control of the relationship and letting go of what she thought was real love. Later does Tom realize what he has done and takes control

Etaryan 4 and wins her back by proving his love for her and in a way they both balance out the dominance at that point. Dominance can be portrayed between genders in many ways and in todays society it can go both ways. Unity is the main ideology behind male vs. female dominance and it all depends on the person as to how they want to be perceived. Women have proven themselves capable of doing many things and have earned their dominance in many cases. They are willing and just as strong as men in a sense to do what men can and even better in some cases. Dominance can be looked at it many ways and in todays world and society each individual has their own say in it and how they want to be viewed and their actions determine whether or not they are dominant or not.
