By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

(P) Students will be able to successfully dribble the basketball while moving around the gym while staying inside the boundaries. (NASPE # 1, MA CF # 2.17, Activity #1) (C) Students will be able to identify at least two skill cues for dribbling during the closure of the lesson. (NASPE # 2, MA CF # 2.17; Closure) (A) Students will respect the equipment used in the lesson by only using it the way its supposed to be used and by putting it away at the end of the lesson. (NASPE # 5, MA CF # 2.17; entire lesson) Check each objective is it specific? Is it achievable? Is it developmentally appropriate? Teacher Performance Objectives During the lesson the teacher will: Clearly state rules and safety for the entire lesson Check for understanding of how to dribble Give positive feedback to the students throughout the entire lesson Special Considerations What are the safety concerns? What is unique about the students in this class? Stay inside the boundaries at all times to avoid hitting the bleachers. All students must be wearing sneakers to participate in any activities. Attendance: Ss enter the gym and go to their attendance spot. After attendance is taken the Ss go to the locker room and change. Transition: Ss go to the locker and change before coming back into the gym. Warm-Up: Ss will do a dynamic stretch in lines then do a circle stretch lead by T or a selected student. After that is completed they will do four laps around the gym. Transition: Ss will walk over to the meeting place to listen to the instructions. Informing: Dribbling is an important part to the sport of basketball. The only way you can move with the ball is by dribbling. When dribbling you can only dribble with one hand and once you stop dribbling you have to either shoot or pass and cant start dribbling again. Cues: Knees slightly bent Eyes forward Use finger pads to push ball to the floor Finger pads meet the ball at waist level Demonstration: T and one S will demonstrate dribbling in place for the rest of the class. Activity 1: T will explain dribbling around the gym Ss will dribble around the gym wherever they went in the general space. Ss will be sure to keep their heads up and not

bump into anyone. Ss will go at any speed they are comfortable. Motivational Objective: Try to dribble all around the gym without S looking down at the ball. Transition: Ss bring it in to T and put basketballs in between their feet. Activity 2: Relay races Ss will line up behind three cones on the baseline in even teams made by T. Students will run down to the opposite baseline while dribbling, going around the cone and coming back to the line. The next person in line cannot start until the person in front of them has passed the baseline. Transition: Students will bring it in to T and put the basketballs at their feet.

Activity 3: Dribble survivor Ss will stay on one half of the gym. Each student will dribble in the general space while staying on the one half of the gym. Anybody can knock any students ball away. If the ball goes out of bounds then that person is out. The last person standing wins. Transition: Students will bring it in to T and put the basketballs at their feet. Activity 4: Red Light/ Green Light Ss will line up on the baseline with basketball balls. When the teacher yells green light" the students will dribble the ball and

get as far down the court as possible. When the teacher yells red light the students must stop and maintain their dribble. Transition: Ss will bring it in to T and put the basketballs away. Closing: Review skill cues and check for understanding about when dribbling is used in basketball. 65-70 min Transition: Students will help put the basketballs and cones away and go back into the locker room and change.
