PHED 239 Module 4: High School Videotape Assignment 20 points

Due: Two weekdays after videotaping lesson Teacher: Ryan Boddie Site: Agawam High School # of Students: 30 Lesson Focus: Floor

Date: 12/2/13 Hockey Videotape one (1) 30 min. lesson. Answers the following questions and submit your responses (TYPED) with this assignment sheet (separate from lesson reflection). 1. At what points during your lesson did you spend the greatest amount of time with management? Why? I spent a lot of time on management during the beginning of the lesson waiting for the students to stop talking. Also, I spent a lot of time waiting for students to decide who was going to sub out for some of the other students. 2. What are some specific teacher behaviors you could have used to lessen your management time/transitions? One thing that could be done is to point out the students who are doing the right thing so that all of the students realize that I am waiting for them because they see their peers doing the right thing. 3. What are some specific teacher behaviors you could have used to increase the activity time for your students? One thing that can be done to increase the amount of playing time for the students is to tell the people who are going into the game who they should go in for. This will allow for more game time play because no one is arguing about who is going out and when they are going out. The decision will be made by the teacher without any arguments. 4. Describe what you think about your content delivery and instruction time. Are you pleased with the results? Why or why not? How could you change this for next time when you teach? I am pleased with my content delivery but i just need to make sure that next time I teach I have to demonstrate what I want from the students instead of me asking the students if they know the rules.My instructions are fine, i just need to work on demonstating skill cues while actually showing the activity at the same time. This will reinforce what is expected of the student and what it should look like instead of me just saying it should look like this.

5. Describe what you think about the classroom climate and control. Are you pleased with the results? Why or why not? How could you change this for next time when you teach? NO I am not pleased with the classroom climate that I am providing for the students. I need to make sure that I bring a lot energy to the class so that it makes the students want to be in class and not just go through the motions.
