School______ Date_11/20/13____ # of Students__35_& 7___ Lesson Focus_____Floor Hockey Videotape one (1) 30 min. lesson. Answers the following questions and submit your responses (TYPED) with this assignment sheet (separate from lesson reflection). 1. At what points during your lesson did you spend the greatest amount of time with management? Why? I spent the greatest amount of time with management during opening of the lesson. This is because I had to go over the classroom rules to set the tone for the class to let the students know that I will not allow them to break any of these rules. Then I also went over the rules for floor hockey. I spent the most management time with this as well because a lot of the floor hockey rules are safety precautions and I need to make sure everyone hears the rules and are paying attention when Im saying them so that they know how to keep themselves and their classmates safe. 2. What are some specific teacher behaviors you could have used to lessen your management time/transitions? A teacher behavior I could have used to lessen transitions was giving the teams their pinnies that they can keep on for the entire class. I only used one color of pinnies and made the students take them off at the end of the game and the other students put them on at the beginning of the next game. This wasted a little bit of time at the beginning and end of each game. I wasnt sure if other colors had enough pinnies for each time so thats why I only used one color but next time I have to make sure there are enough pinnies for everyone so that it doesnt waste time between games. They are put on once in the beginning and taken off once at the end of the lesson. 3. What are some specific teacher behaviors you could have used to increase the activity time for your students? One specific teacher behavior I could have used to increase more activity time for the students would be timing. The timing of the games was off and some students were only able to play one game and some students were able to play two games. Even though the lesson timing didnt go as planned, I need to be able to figure out the timing of the games on the fly during the lesson so that everyone gets to play for an even amount of time

4. Describe what you think about your content delivery and instruction time. Are you pleased with the results? Why or why not? How could you change this for next time when you teach? I thought that my content delivery was rushed because there was not much time to get all thirty-five students involved for a sufficient amount of time. Thus, I am not pleased with the results. I went through all the content of the rules and picking teams really fast because I wanted the students to get a lot of time to play. By the time I was able to start my lesson there was only thirty minutes left until the students had to be in the lockerroom. In a thirty minute time span I had to go over rules, stretch, make teams, and get thirty-five students an even amount of playing time, and then close the lesson and that was a difficult task to fulfil. I can change this for the next time I teach by making transitions shorter by giving teams their respective colored pinnies before the lesson rather than using one color for the entire lesson. 5. Describe what you think about the classroom climate and control. Are you pleased with the results? Why or why not? How could you change this for next time when you teach? I thought that the classroom climate felt hectic and chaotic. Thirty-five students was a lot to handle when only one game was going on at a time. There were so many students between the two teams not playing, in the hallway which is where they waited to play their next game. I thought it was a lot to worry about between the students in the hall and the game that was going on all at the same time. I know as a PE teacher that is something that I will have to deal with every day and I will get get better at it so that this type of situation will not feel so chaotic and stressful. A way that I can change this for next time is trying to get the teams that are out involved in the game, or try and get them to have their own objectives to do while they are not playing.
