FAM Classes Reflection Title of Experience/Artifact Date Experience Completed Artifact Description: I had the opportunity to teach five

different FAM classes for my level II internship. Within these classes I had the opportunity to observe the professions for a week (3 days) and then I got to put together a teaching plan for each class. I was able to use my professional knowledge to teach each class. I have included my plans for each class I taught. Reflection on Alignments: Health Promotion Standard Alignment I believe my teaching plans best aligns with standard three, Professional Knowledge. Professional Knowledge: The health promoter understands the center concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of health promotion and creates learning experiences that make specific aspects of health promotion meaningful to the clients. I chose to align here because I got to create learning experiences through learning and teaching the FAM classes. I understand the central concepts of each class and got to build a teaching plan for the classes. I have become more proficient in these classes since doing this and have made it easier for me to plan for classes in the future. UW-Platteville School of Education Knowledge, Skill, Disposition Statement Alignment This artifact best aligns with KSD:4.f. Shows Professionalism: The candidate has the ability to participate professionally with other professionals and clients in the decision making and be highly proactive in serving clients, working to assure that all clients have an opportunity for success. I choose to align here because in teaching the FAM classes you have to be able to participate professionally and show the clients that I am knowledgeable. I want to be able to make sure that all my clients have the opportunity for success as in trying to do a certain pose by making it easier or harder, offering altercations. Secondary Alignments: KSD 1.c. KSD 1.f. KSD3.a. KSD3.c. KSD4.a. KSD4.e. Teaching FAM Classes: Yoga, Stability ball/ Dana band, Bosu ball/ Body bar, and Weight training Fall 2013

PERSONAL REFLECTION: What I learned about teaching/learning from this experience. I have learned that all clients are different so offering different poses or alterations for them will allow them to continue to participate and be involved. I also learned that practice makes perfect, if I dont practice then I can tell and I am sure everyone else can tell that I am off and frustrated for not being prepared. I learned that you may having to alter you classes and go in a different location. Being prepared for all instances is a plus for teaching classes. Overall, I enjoyed being fortunate to be able to teach a variety of classes. What I learned about myself as a prospective educator as a result of this experience/artifact: I have learned that I get nervous when teaching the first time, but after that I feel comfortable to teach in front. I learned that I enjoyed teaching the variety of classes, but bosu ball was my favorite class to teach because it was upbeat and I was good at it. I learned that I have to be more confident and change into my teaching voice. I also learned that when put into a predicament of switching the location, I tend to get frustrated and annoyed thinking that it isnt going to go right.
