ABSTRACT HEALTH SURVEILLANCE AND COMMUNITY ALERTNESS ANALYSIS POST MERAPI ERUPTION 2010 ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF DESA SIAGA

: CASE STUDY IN TALUN VILLAGE Rio Rialdi1, Astri Sulastri P2 Background: Indonesia is one of the countries that prone to the natural disaster. It is Merapi eruption that causes a variety impacts to the community, especially the health impacts. One of the important pillars in the handling of this, it is desa siaga because people are often not prepared when confronted with disaster. For realizing this problem, it is community alertness programs and community-based health surveillance through the Desa Siaga policy. Objective: knowing how the implementation of community alertness programs and community-based health surveillance post-eruption of Merapi in 2010 in the implementation of Desa Siaga in the Talun Village, Kemalang Klaten district of Central Java Methods: This study was a descriptive study using a case study research design with qualitative analysis. Subjects in the study were the perpetrator of the health surveillance programs and community alertness in the Village Talun with the object of research is the social situation in the implementation of the program. Informant is determined by the method of purposive and snowball effect if necessary. The collection of data by non-participatory observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, focus group discussion (FGD) and triangulation. Results: The implementation of the Desa Siaga is good enough, seen from the passage of several indicators, community surveillance program has not run properly due to lack of health centers socialization while the community alertness program to disasters and needs to be repaired for health emergency preparedness. Conclusion: Desa Siaga program and community alertness program is quite good, but not followed by implementation of community-based surveillance that is felt is still lacking.
