Reflection In my first semester of sophomore year. I have grown in many areas.

I have grown in knowledge, college/career readiness with improved skills for academic success. I have also grown in my ability to investigate the world, recognize perspectives, and communicate ideas. These are all the areas I have shown growth, in my first semester of sophomore year. This semester I have grown in the area of knowledge and research. One way I have grown in knowledge is by using the internet to find answers. I use the internet to research questions, topics, countries, and especially for help on my homework. When I dont understand something I try doing research and asking the internet for help. The internet has helped me gain a lot of knowledge. Another way I grown in knowledge is by learning to work in groups, before I thought working in groups was hard but now I realize it much easier because they're people thinking, working, and sharing together. I have also grown in the area of college and career readiness. One way I have shown growth in this area is by finishing my classwork on time and completing my homework on time. I have also learned to take good notes when a teacher is explaining or talking about a topic. Msr. Mohr has taught me to take notes when shes talking or explaining about something. Mrs. Mohr says, Dont wait for me to tell you to take notes write all the important things I say I feel that Mrs. Mohr is just trying to prepare us for college because she says, In college the teacher doesnt tell you to take notes he just talks and talks without writing anything down for you to copy so you have to get use to taking notes when a teacher or professor is explaining. I have learned many things by fixing, making, and building projects. I feel that this will prepare me for a career because i'm interested in career that involves building and fixing things. I have also grown in the area of skills for academic success. One way I have grown in this area is by learning to arrange and organize my time. I do cross-country and soccer for the school so I had to learn to organize my time. I had practice everyday this semester for crosscountry and soccer I didnt have a lot of time to do my homework but I learned not to procrastinate as much, so that I would get my school work done on time. Another way I grown in this area is by learning to write and speak with rhetorical appeals. I learned this skill in Mrs. Mohrs class. The three main persuasive strategies are pathos, logos, and ethos all these are type or way of persuasion. The skill of persuasion is very important for success because it can help you convince a person, audience, or group it can also get you friends and followers. I have also grown in the ability to investigate the world. I have grown in this area because of the Industrial Revolution project for my World History class. In this project we had to choose a topic on the Industrial Revolution and my group choose child labor. We did a lot of research on many countries and we found out that child labor is still a major problem around the world today. Our teacher, Mrs. Dewaele made us do a PSA on the Industrial Revolution and how child labor is still a major in the present all around the world. This project helped me to investigate the world and learn about child labor today because this project made us do a lot of research on other countries around the world.

I have grown in the ability to recognize perspectives. I have grown in this area by learning that western countries that were modernized colonized unmodernized countries and regions in the 20th century. This issue can have two point of views because colonizing unmodernized countries or regions can be a good thing and a bad thing. I have done research on this topic and found out that the bad out votes the good. So I have come to recognize that imperialism has a negative effect on the people of the unmodernized countries because the western countries would try to change their culture, religion, beliefs, and laws, and morals. Learning about this topic has helped grow in the ability to recognize perspectives. The last area I have shown growth is in the ability to communicate ideas. I have presented many projects to my classmates, teachers, and other classrooms in the elementary, middle, and high school. I did a project for my environmental class and we had to do a bumper sticker that delivers a message to the audience that you're against the use of pesticides. For extra credit I had to take a picture of a persons car with my bumper sticker on it. I had to communicate with the owner of the car and ask him if I can put the sticker on this bumper he asked me a few questions about the bumper sticker and I had to answer them. In conclusion, I have shown growth and improvement in my first semester of sophomore year. The areas I have shown growth are knowledge, college & career readiness, skills for academic success, ability to investigate the world, recognize perspectives, and communicate ideas. These are all the areas I have grown in, this first semester of sophomore year.
