    Question Type What to Write 1.Examine Pros and cons and concrete conclusion is needed. 2.

    Comment Take a stand on one side and conclude. 3. Analyze Pros and cons but conclusion not needed. NOTE: - 1, 2, 3 are of same category 4.Discuss Views of different opinions and arrive at conclusion. 5.Explain What do you understand from the given statement. 6.Describe/outline / Sketch Trace the outline. Overview 7.Illustrate Explain with examples You can also represent pictographs. 8. Elucidate Explain with an examples( Mostly policy related questions) 9. Elaborate Write what are all involved. Dont Explain just expand what is given 10. Substantiate To justify or prove with reasons. With examples it becomes Case study. 11. Do you Agree Take a stand either Agree/disagree. 12.How far do you agree You can completely Agree/disagree . Constructive criticise To what extent do you agree You can also give suggestions 13. Explicate Bring out what is hidden in question By and large it is like Elaborate 14. Argue Give your argument, stand on your argument and argue 15, Propose / Prescribe/outlist Its like suggest measures and propose a model. 16. Compare/contrast Try avoid using tables Go for small paragraphs and compare 17. Evaluate/asses More or less of examine type Need statistics and conclusion 18.
