SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT 1.

INTRODUCTION
The emerging concepts in supply chain management have radically transformed the business over the last few years.Supply chain attempts to manage the flow of material, information, ownership and money. The expanse of supply chain is vast. It encompasses the suppliers supplier as well as the customers customer. The focus these days is on integration, deployment of IT-tools and matching the flow of material with related information.

2. OBJECTIVES
This programme focuses on: (a) Understanding the key drivers of supply chain performance and their relationship with other functional areas; (b) Developing analytical and problem solving skills in real life supply chain problems; (c) Understanding the integration of IT in supply chain; (d) Analyzing whether the purchasing, production and distribution strategies are synchronous with the competitive strategy and market needs; (e) Sharing organizational experience between participants.

3. CONTENTS
Introduction to Supply Chain Management, Inventory Management and Risk Pooling, Forecasting Tools and Techniques, Beer Distribution Game, Information Sharing in Supply Chain, Performance Measures in SupplyChains, Vendor Rating and Development, Assessing Distribution Systems, Issues in Global SCM, Designing Supply Chain Strategy, Revenue Sharing in Supply Chains, Understanding Financial Statements to gauge credit worthiness of supply chain partners, Recent Trends and Future Directions (i.e. RFID etc)

4. WHO SHOULD ATTEND


This programme is meant for (i) Senior & middle managers, business analysts and consultants involved in supply chain management including customer servicing, marketing, logistics (i.e., distribution, warehousing, transportation, etc.), manufacturing (i.e., production planning, materials management, etc.), purchase and sourcing and third party service providers for logistics and manufacturing; (ii) Academic professionals dealing with Supply Chain Management and Operations Management.

5. METHODOLOGY
The programme will use a mix of lectures, group exercises such as case analyses and management games to fulfill its objectives.
