Country’s largest direct selling
FMCG company, Amway India,
is eyeing sales of Rs1,400 crore
during calendar year 2009.
“We have achieved sales of
Rs1,128 crore in 2008 (January to
December), an increase of 40%
as compared to sales of Rs800
crore in the previous year, This
is the first time our sales crossed
the Rs1,000 crore mark, We are
expecting similar growth this
year and are targeting sales of
Rs1,400 crore in 2009,” Achinta
Banerjie, vice president, (west-
ern region) Amway India, told
reporters in Surat.

state achounted for sales of Rs44
crore for Amway in 2008, with
Ahmedabad and Surat being the
largest contributors.
“We have outlined aggressive
growth plans for the year. We
will be launching new products,
increase our penetration in in-
terior locations and enhance
visibility,” he said.
“Amway India is also plan-
ning to scale up capacities of its
manufacturing plants to meet
increased demand for its prod-
ucts,” he added,
Of Amway’s total sales, nutri-
tion and wellness products, ac-
count for almost 50%, while cos-
metics, home care and personal
care products account for the re-
maining.
Even as financial uncertainty
is taking heavy toll on other in-
dustries, Banerjie said Amway
has been unaffected by it.
“In fact, this uncertainty
might be helping us, as more
and more people are pursuing
business opportunities with us
for additional income.
Moreover, being a FMCG com-
pany, we are somewhat insulat-
ed from the crisis,” he said.
