Where did people live?


• Most of the people lived in the Nile Valley

What are their houses made of?


• The houses were made of bricks made from the Nile mud.
• The houses were made so they would be facing north so
the wind would enter the house
• The kept out the hotness of the day
• To make them, workers molded the mud in molds and left
them to dry from the heat of the sun.
• Poorer people's houses were only made from
mud bricks, while richer people's houses had
plaster and paint.

Whose furniture is this?


• There was a big difference in the size of houses and furniture
between the richer and poorer people.
• Poorer Egyptians lived in houses that were very plain
• Those houses had a couple tiny rooms with tall windows and ceiling that

• Mud is taken from Nile River.


• Mix straw and pebbles to increase strength.
• Fill up molds with strengthened mud.
• Let dry.
• When the house is assembled, the cover the house with plaster and
sometimes the inside would be painted.
