(Posted by: 2joven)

During the spanish time, Barangay Arobo was uninhabited. The

oldest person by the name Pedro Cabañero who remained bachelor
hailed from Barangay Igdanlog., Frequently went to this place to till
the land which he did not establish in his own name. He built a
Barong-barong or a hut for his shelter. Thus, followed by Mateo
Perfas who hailed from San Joaquin, Iloilo and he also established
his own hut, thus the two oldest person were the pioneered and
permanently lived in this barangay.

Pedro Cabañero tilled the land in the form of Kaingin system. In

his small farm there was a huge tree named AROBO and beared a
fruits which is edible, because of the scarcity of food on that time
they used the fruits of the tree for there food and they took good
care of it. Then later, the tree died because of age. When other
inhabitants dwelled in this place, Pedro Cabañero and Mateo Perfas
called for a meeting and suggested that the place must be named
AROBO in memory of that edible tree. Thus, barangay AROBO was
borned.

Arobo was the sitio of Brgy.Masayo until the year 1963 when the
inhabitants passed a resolution for its separation from Brgy.Masayo
to become a bonafide Barrio Arobo. Its patron saint is SAINT JOSEPH
and the first Barangay fiesta was held on March 19-20, 1965.
