Field Placements
Kurtz Elementary | Huron Valley Schools September 2013-December 2013 Dena Spurlock 5th grade (Student Teaching Placement) I studied classroom management, created successful lesson plans before implementing the lesson in a classroom, and used a variety of different teaching methods. I was able to participate in Student-Teacher Conferences and state any concerns regarding their child. During this semester, I adapted to a team teaching classroom and was responsible for the instruction of sixty students. With this many students, I learned many strategies on differentiating lessons. Hart Middle School | Rochester Community Schools January 2013- June 2013 Katie Allen 8th grade Language Arts & Advanced I applied many of the Language Arts courses in this field. During this time, I was able to see how a research paper is assessed, how 8th grade book assignments are completed and graded, and lastly, how grammar is taught. I strengthened my knowledge of using technology in the classroom and how to implement it into the lessons being taught.

Van Hoosen Middle School | Rochester Community Schools September 2012-December 2012 Megan Maguire 6th grade Mathematics and Accelerated Mathematics Developed knowledge in a middle school setting. I observed how brilliant lesson plans were executed and how students performed on homework and tests, following those lessons. Afterwards, I was able to coordinate my own lessons in the classroom and motivate students to learn using engaging lessons and manipulatives. Megans class familiarized me in teaching a middle school classroom. Alcott Elementary | Pontiac Schools District January 2012-April 2012 Jean Holmquist Special Needs I aided special needs students from Kindergarten to sixth grade. Managed smalls groups as well as students individually on reading, writing, and math activities. I had the opportunity to work with several disabilities in a classroom and learn diverse learning styles to meet each child's needs. Rogers Elementary | Pontiac Schools District September 2011-December 2011 Cindy Kopytek 4th grade I administered spelling tests and helped students individually with in-class assignments. I was able to experience an urban school classroom and see the similarities between urban and suburban schools. I also helped corrected and evaluated assignments.
