for a healthy lifestyle! Lindsay Connolly Grade Level: 9th Grade Subject: Healthy Paths Time frame: Student Learning Outcomes (Goals): Students will research USDA guidance along with other Four, 53 minute resources in order to learn more about healthy food choices. Also, students will with learn, understand class periods and analyze different health strategies in order to create a food journal with hopes to create a path in the right direction of a healthy lifestyle.

Procedure

EDUC 522 Lesson Plan Author: Lindsay Connolly 1. The students will be given a handout of the USDA food safety guidelines and will read through and highlight important information and key terms. Students will highlight at least 5 notes and analyze the information. Students will think about their healthy habits in comparison to the USDA guidelines. 2. The students will also be given the book, Eat This, Not That, take 5 notes and compare and contrast their notes with a partner. 3. The students will watch a minimum of 4 health videos via iPad, iPad apps, YouTube and short clips from, Super Size Me and take three notes per video. Students need a minimum of 12 notes. 4. Students will organize their thoughts, research and notes in order to create a two-day meal plan on GoogleDocs to share with the class. 5. Students will then create a PowerPoint presentation describing their two favorite cardiovascular activities along with demonstrating them to the class.

EDUC 522 Lesson Plan Author: Lindsay Connolly The end product of this assignment will be a 4-5 minute classroom presentation Verbal/Interpersonal/Bodily-Kinesthetic/ comprised of a two-day meal plan which is to be made on GoogleDocs. Students Visual/Linguistic will be expected to choose items that are appropriate to a healthy lifestyle. The meal plan will include two different options for breakfast, snack, lunch and dinner. Along with the meal plan, students will create a PowerPoint explaining two cardiovascular activities. PowerPoint must include an explanation on the activity, a video showing how to perform the exercise and two paragraphs explaining why you chose this activity and how it can benefit your healthy lifestyle.

Satisfactory- 2 Student had less than 8 notes. Student shared with a peer and had overall good attitude/behavior in class.
