Day 3

Force, Motion and Energy Push and Pull

Objective: To investigate and describe how the force of push and pull affects an objects movement. Read Aloud: Push and Pull Big Book Discussion: What does it mean to push? Pull? Can you show me? Demonstration: St. who brought in push and pull toys can show how you use them. Vocabulary Intro: T. will ask students to show how you can make the toys go straight, and back and forth. Force, Motion and Energy Wheels

Objective: To investigate and describe what makes things easier to move. Read Aloud: Balance and Motion Big Book Discussion: What do wheels do? What kinds of things have wheels T. writes on board. Demonstration: St. who brought in toys with wheels can show how you use them. Vocabulary: T. will ask students which toys go back and forth or straight, and which go in a circular motion. What do you predict will make movement easier? What kind of movement is thisback and forth, straight, or circular? Final Discussion: How are pencils under the book the same as wheels on a car? Why are wheels round, rather than triangular or square? Which takes more force to move, a book with pencils under it or without? A car with wheels that move, or are taped?

Day 1

**2:15 Guidance

Demonstration: St. who brought in toys that use air to move can show how it is used. Vocabulary: T. will ask students which toys go back and forth or straight, and which go in a circular motion. (Show vocab cards) Free Explore: St. will try each toy and use the words straight, circular, and back and forth. Huff and Puff: Spring into Math and Science lesson plan Huff and Puff.
