LEARNING THEORY A statement indicating if/how your project is underpinned by evidence-based learning theory.

Throughout our lessons students are assessed in various ways, allowing the teacher to com rise evidence o! the students" learning e# eriences$ In this science unit o! wor% the educator uses teacher o&servation, 'uestioning and rom ting, anecdotal notes, a summative ru&ric, and student"s re!ection(evaluation$ All o! these methods %ee trac% o! the student"s individual and colla&orative rogress) roducing an understanding o! the s eci!ic learning o&*ectives, !or a lesson or a unit$ +tudents in our ro*ect are also using a variety o! I,T, allowing the evidence we collect to &e &ased on a wider range o! ty es$ This solar system ro*ect is consistently under inned &y an evidence-&ased learning a roach$ The teacher gathers various ty es o! assessment. !ormative, diagnostic and summative, under &oth !ormal and in!ormal circumstances$ +tudents" are assessed &e!ore, during and a!ter the !our lessons$ The educator also re!lected on their own teaching and learning through out this ro*ect to &etter !uture e# eriences$ Gathering evidence in &oth !ormal and in!ormal situations caters !or students that get nervous or do not res ond well under ressure$ Allowing them to &e assessed while er!orming at their natural &est$ /ormative, summative and diagnostic assessment are used in this ro*ect at !urthermore en!orce evidence-&ased learning$ /ormative assessment is used to monitor their learning rogress during this unit o! wor%$ It rovides ongoing !eed&ac% and evidence !or the teacher and students, detailing rogress, and identi!ying areas that re'uire !urther develo ment$ Our ro*ect does this through teacher 'uestioning, o&servations and antidotal notes$ At the &eginning o! this unit the teacher casually assesses the students" rior %nowledge through a &rainstorm session and care!ul 'uestioning$ This ty e o! assessment assures the educator"s lanning is suited to the students" academic ca a&ility 0 not too easy or too challenging$ At the end o! this unit o! wor% a summative assessment is com leted to document the level o! achievement o! each student and the grou s$ Throughout the ro*ect students are com leting this grou ro*ect that is resented to class and assessed in regards to a ru&ric$ This rovides !eed&ac% to the teacher a&out the e!!ectiveness o! the unit o! wor% - what changes need to &e made !or the !uture1 2hat wor%ed well and why1 3iagnostic assessment is consistently gathered to identi!y areas o! wea%ness and strength$ And this is done through the !ormal assessment o! the resentation and mar%ed against a ru&ric( chec%list in accordance to the Australian ,urriculum and lesson o&*ectives$ Throughout this ro*ect students are e# osed to several di!!erent ty es o! assessment and I,T activities, allowing the evidence collected to &e as !air as ossi&le$ It gives all students their &est chance to dis lay their !ull otential, s%ills and academic %nowledge, under all situations$ Resolutely gathering the most accurate evidence to &ase their !uture learning e# eriences o!! o!$
