The Egyptian Papyrus of Kahun and Vedic literature in ancient India offer one of the first written records of veterinary medicine. They made two kinds of medicine one medicine for the people and another for the animals. The first attempt to help animals were practiced on horses because they had a significance in their economics.In 475 CE farries combined their work in shoeing and generally caring for horses hooves with horse doctoring. The first veterinary college in Europe had been founded in Lyons, France in 1762. In the United States, the first veterinarians had been trained in Europe. In World War II many people wouldn't even pay a token for the medical care of their pets. During this time antibiotics were yet to be developed and they thought surgical skills were minimal and crude.The Odiham Agricultural Society was founded in 1783 in England to promote agriculture and industry and it played an important role in the foundation of veterinary profession in Britain. A member, Thomas Burgess began to take up the cause of animal welfare and campaign for the more humane treatment of sick animals. The Royal College of Veterinary surgeons was established by royal charter in 1844. In 1879, Iowa Agricultural College became the first land grant college to establish a school of veterinary medicine. In the United States, the first schools were established in the early 19th century in Boston, New York and Philadelphia.

Debbye Turner Bell is an american vet, a talk show hostess and winner of the 1990 Miss America contest. She graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Arkansas State University. Debbyes first hosting job came at St. Louis NBC affiliate and KSDK on a show called show me St. Louis in 1995. Six years later she joined CBS news and also contributor on The Early Show.

In 1993 a University of Colorado pathology professor Martin Fettman traveled aboard the space shuttle becoming the first vet in space. He published over 100 research articles in refereed scientific journals. Since the flight he has made over seventy public appearances in K-12 schools.

As you give the animal back to their owner and knowing that you just saved a life is so rewarding! There are many reasons I would be good at this job. And maybe you will think this job is better than your job now and want to quit to be a Veterinary Anesthesia! I would be good at this job because ever since I was 4 years old I wanted to be vet because I love animals but I didnt know really know a lot about the felids in Veterinary Medicine. Now that Ive done my research Ive learned there are many jobs in this field. Ive ruled out some jobs in the field and I decided that being a anesthesia would be the best job for me because i love animals so much I dont want to be the one to do surgeries or anything to critical because it would but extremely for me to see them past away.
