INTRODUCTION The six peer parents were selected from the PLWHA support groups in Trans-Nzoia District that were attached to Kitale District Hospital. They were assigned to cover: Mch/ANC clinic/ postnatal clinic Pediatric ward Maternity ward OPD C.C.C.

ACTIVITIES 1) Their activities involved identifying parents with children who are exposed to HIV and referring them for HIV testing and linkage to C.C.C for those HIV infected. 2) Provide health education to clients. 3) Referral and linkage to C.C.C. 4) Defaulter tracing of clients.

TOPICS A knowledge gap was identified and the following topics were covered to equip the peer parents to discharge their duties effectively. 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7) 8) Basic communication skills Early infant diagnosis ARVs Adherence counseling Nutrition PMTCT. TB and HIV Defaulter tracing

These topics were covered over a period of 2 days.
