Work/School Experience
Jan2014-Present: Pursuing Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Arizona State University Oct2013-Jan2014: Various office work for military requiring knowledge of Microsoft Office programs Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook. Some work with training event planning and preparation. Sep2011-Oct2013: Military Police officer working in the Military Working Dog program. Dog training included substance detection, aggression work, behavior modification, scent scouting, building searches, gunfire familiarization, vehicle familiarization, rapport building, exercise, hygiene, and medical care. Major events during this time period listed below. Jul2012-Dec2012: Attended and completed the Specialized Search Dog School at Lackland AFB, Texas. Trained multiple dogs from beginning state to off-leash capable substance detectors. Nov2011-Jul2012: Deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan, as a dog handler and worked with several different units. 7Aug2011-27Aug2011: Attended and completed the Inter-service Advanced Skills Course (IASK) at Yuma, Arizona. The course contained dog handling pre-deployment training as well as imprinting on Homemade Explosives (HME). Apr2011: Attended and completed the Non-Infantry Machine Gunners Course at Camp Pendleton, California. Jan2011: Attended and completed the Ammunition and Explosives Driver Training Course at Camp Pendleton, California. Sep2010-Dec2010: Attended and completed the Basic Handlers Course at Lackland AFB, Texas. Learned the basics of animal psychology pertaining to military working dogs. May2010-Sep2010: Attended Military Police School at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Learned concepts such as deadly force and the force continuum. Practiced with verbal techniques, defensive tactics, static and dynamic pistol shooting, pepper spray, batons, handcuffing techniques, driving of emergency vehicles, various weapon systems, various types of patrolling, driving armored vehicles, and good shoot/bad shoot scenarios. Apr2010-May2010: Attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, California. Learned the basics of patrolling and several weapons systems. Jan2010-Apr2010: Attended Marine Corps Boot Camp: Learned drill, weapons handling, Marine Corps values. Jun2009-Oct2009: Worked in the restaurant industry bussing tables, cleaning dishes, taking orders for customers, and cleaning in general.
