Tom sat scared in court over a false thought, A white man defending him by command, A just jury was his wishful demand. Toms clothes and his life were all that he brought Rarely doing wrong and guilty of naught. Unbiased people are few in this land A guilty verdict was already planned. Tom listened quietly and never fought. Hard tempers were Atticus to diffuse. Tom tried to run because he was in-shape, Knowing he would get more than a minor scrape. He might have survived, with both arms to use. Tom was a victim in the racial strife; He attempted escape and lost his life.
