ANIMA CHOIR Profile and History The Anima Choir is composed of members of the now-defunct San Miguel Master

Chorale. The SMMC was the first and only professional choral ensemble in the country. SMMC members were rigorously auditioned and selected by international peer of conductors from a roster of high-caliber auditionees from the top choirs in the country. Together with Executive Artistic Director Ryan Cayabyab, SMMC members were then given the resources to cultivate and hone their talents more, and perform in various local and international settings, representing the corporation as a premier patron of arts and music. Their highlights as members of SMMC include representing the country in International Festivals in Kyoto (2005), Taiwan (2004) and South Korea (2004). They were also part of the numerous CD projects that include Greatest OPM Hits 1 and 2, Dancing in the Rain, Movie Themes, Pasko 1 and 2. In 2005, a group of singers within SMMC decided to put up a smaller vocal ensemble, known as Anima Choir. Anima means soul, and this is what defined their music: breathing soul, feelings and emotions to pieces beyond mastering the choral techniques. Six years on and they have established Anima as a leading vocal ensemble in the niche but growing wedding industry. With rave reviews, they have made a mark in that industry as a premier choice for choir/vocal ensemble integrated with string ensemble setups. After SMMCs contracts expired in 2006, Anima continued to venture into the corporate scene as well. And for this, they decided to have varying numbers of singers, customized to the needs of their clients, and at the same time reflected the dynamic and vibrant sound of a bigger group. With their combined years of professional choral experience, the group continues to raise the bar high in the Philippine choral scene.
