Resolution 26-28 To Commend Provost Pamela Whitten and Welcome Her to Her New Position Authored by President Austin

Laufersweiler; Vice President Uzma Chowdhury; Treasurer Mary Grace Griffin; Chief of Staff Alex Moosariparambil; Executive Secretary Jim Thompson Sponsored by Senator Tyler Baker, College of Family and Consumer Sciences WHEREAS, Provost Whitten earned her bachelor's degree in management from Tulane University, her master's degree in communication from the University of Kentucky, and her doctoral degree in communication from the University of Kansas; and, WHEREAS, Provost Whitten previously served as the Dean of the Michigan State University College of Communication Arts and Sciences; and, WHEREAS, through her leadership, the College of Communication Arts and Sciences saw considerable growth and improvement; and, WHEREAS, such leadership is sure to elevate the academic profile of the University of Georgia; and, WHEREAS, her work in telemedicine is internationally recognized and demonstrates her expertise in interdisciplinary collaborations; and, WHEREAS, the University of Georgia is fortunate to have such an accomplished scholar and leader as Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of the 26th administration of the Student Government Association of the University of Georgia warmly welcome Provost Whitten to the University of Georgia, congratulate her on her achievements, and look forward to continuing to build a tradition of academic excellence at the University of Georgia.
