Cause: An ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE statement specified a log number for the new log which is already in use. Solution: Specify a different redo log file number or let the database choose an unused value. 2.

Cause: The column name entered is either missing or invalid. Solution: Enter a valid column name.

Cause: An attempt was made to remove the last member of a redo log group. Solution: If desired, delete the entire log by using the DROP log file command. 4.

Cause: The Oracle Listener may malfunction. Solution: Go to the SERVICES and just look for the ORACLE LISTENER. By clicking stop and start, the listener will be restarted in processing.

Cause: The table or view entered does not exist, a synonym that is not allowed here was used, or a view was referenced where a table is required. Existing user tables and views can be listed by querying the data dictionary. Certain privileges may be required to access the table. If an application returned this message, the table the application tried to access does not exist in the database, or the application does have access to it. Solution: Check each of the following:

the spelling of the table or view name. that a view is not specified where a table is required. that an existing table or view name exists.

Cause: A keyword is missing Solution: Supply the missing keyword

Cause: A required part of a clause or expression has been omitted. Keyword or an expression is missing. Solution: Check the statement syntax and specify the missing component.

8.

Cause: The SQL statement ends with an inappropriate clause. Solution: Correct the syntax by removing the inappropriate clauses.
