Geneticallymodifiedfoodsreallyhaveanimpactonourworldtoday.Mostpeopledont knowwhattheyareeatingorhowthesefoodsaremadewhichisn'tgoodbecausemostlyall foodsaregeneticallymodifiedandcancauselotsofproblemstheycanalsobeharmfulto humansandtheotherspecies. Geneticallymodifiedfoods,knownasGMOfoodsarecropsthathavealteredusinga varietyofmolecularbiologytechniquestoprovidethemwithnewcharacteristics.(Philpott,2004) Someexamplecharacteristicsareherbicidetoleranceandthat'stocontrolunwantedweeds, pesticideresistanceandthat'stodecreasethepestpopulationandonelastexampleistomake thefoodslastlonger.Therearemanyothercharacteristicsthattheywantforthefoods.GMO foodsarealsoknownastransgenicorganismswhichmeanstheorganismsgenescomefrom morethanonesource. TomakeorproduceGMOfoodstherearethreemaincomponentsarerequiredwhichisthe genethatyouwanttotransfer,theorganismyouwanttoputinitandsomethingtocarrythe geneintothetargetspeciescells.(unknown,2008)MakingGMOfoodscanbeverychallenging itsaverystraightforwardprocess.

Thegenthatisbeingtransferredhastobecutoutand isolatedfromtheoriginalorganismthatisdonewithrestrictionenzymes,ithastobecutwhere theDNAhastobeplacedthenthetransgeneisinsertedintodvectorandthenitstogetinside thecellsofthetargetspeciesthenthescientistremovethepartofportionsthatareharmfuland leaveintheportionsthatareresponsibleforgettinginthehostcells.GMOfoodsaremadeijall differentcountriesinfigureoneitshowsallthedifferentcountriesanditalsoshowsthe percentagesofthecropstheygrew. GMOfoodsareusuallyonlygoodforonespeciesandharmtheothers.Forexamplethe pestandviralresistancesaregoodforhumansbecauseitallowsustogrowcropsinareasthey wouldn'tnormallygrowbutitsverypoisonoustotootherspecies.Itsalsopossiblethatits harmfultohumansbecausethereisnoGMOfoodlabelingortestingthatiscurrentlyrequiredby thefoodandDrugAdministration.TherearealsonolongtermstudiesofGMOeffectson humansthathavebeendoneandtherearesomefearedpossiblehealthrisks.Someprosfor GMOfoodsareitmakesiteasierforfarmerstogrowtheircropsanditalsomakeseasierand cheapertofeedpopulationsworldwideandallthechemicalskillalltheunwantedplantsand weeds.(Green,2006) EventhoughtherearesomeprosaboutGMOfoodstheconsoverpowerthem.GMO foodsareveryharmfultohumansandanimalsbecausetheycancausemanydiseasesand thereisnolongtermtestinggoingon.Theyarenotagoodcause.Thisaffectsushumans becauseitsbasicallyinallthefoodweeatthatwebuyatagrocerystore.ToavoidGMOfoods trytobuyallorganicornaturalfoodandalsotrytoreadthelabelsasbestasyoucan.
