Why is my child not performing up to previous standards? Entering the middle school can be a rocky transition for some students because of all the change. These factors of change that disrupt the routine of a child are broad and differ uniquely; from opening a locker, traveling from class to class, increased academic rigor, club and athletic involvement, and or social distractions Students need to find themselves, for many students start the year lost. To do this, they need to develop a system of organization that works for them. My child was and has been advanced on the PSSA, why are his/her present grades not higher? The PSSA test in its current format is a raw score out of 2400 points. The state of PA awards a student an advance rating if they achieve a score of 1483, which is 61.8% on the quiz. **NHMS FACT** Nearly 60% of our student in 7 grade are advanced on the PSSA, yet only a third of them are in accelerated math.

5 Keys To Improve Academic Performance


#1 Dont fall behind! If you miss an assignment, make it up immediately.

(See the instructor and find out what you missed and or what you need)
#2 Look over your notes every evening for 15 minutes whether you have a written assignment or not. #3 When a mistake is made, correct it. Then ask why you missed it in the first place. #4 When you attempt an assignment and dont understand something, make the effort to ask your instructor about it.

#5 Review a week in advance for quizzes and tests look over your past questions practice quizzes lecture and notes book assignment packet assignments.

(Waiting until the last minute is ALWAYS BAD when it comes to academics)
