Lesson One: Meet Our Superheros! Date: Jan 11, 2014 Time: 30 minutes

Lesson Two: Be a Superhero! Date: Jan 15, 2014 Time: 60 minutes


Learning Objectives 1. Students will be able to name the four food groups in the Canadas Food guide 2. Identify and classify some healthy foods from each food group Super Mission 2 Power to Play Super Hero Card Food Cards (19) Canadas Food Guide DVD 1) Talk about as a class: superhero names, secret identities, super powers, and costumes 2) Put some examples on the board: Mighty, The Amazing, Super, Captain, and a healthy food, an animal 3) Fill out Superhero name, secret identity and super power 4) Open Envelope and Read Super Mission 5) Watch DVD episode 6: Operation Food Groups; ask students to watch for how they group foods. 6) Ask students what they noticed about how they sorted. 7) Give each student a food card; spread the four food groups around room. 8) Ask students to find out which group their food belongs in, look at picture and see if you can find similar items. Once they find it, tell them that these are food groups that they found.

9) Bring them back to carpet to show them Canada Food Guide. Tell them they should eat from them every day. Solve the Riddle.

Lesson Three: Super Colourful Vegetables and Fruit! Date: Jan 16, 2014 Time: 30 minutes
Learning Objectives 1. Students will be able to identify and classify fruits and vegetables 2. Students will understand that fruits and vegetables make us healthy and make us feel good. CD Super Mission 3 DVD Colourful Snacks Chart Coloured Paper 1. Listen to song 2 Open your backpack 2. Open Super Mission envelope, read aloud 3. Hand out coloured paper, tell students to watch for fruits and vegetables that are the colour they are holding 4. Watch DVD Episode 3: Operation: Super Snacks 5. Talk about each colour and some examples, hold up fruits and vegetables picture 6. Answer super mission 7. Have students go back to desk and draw some fruits and vegetables on their colourful snacks chart, showing their favorite snack. Writing underneath I like ___ snacks|
