Brief Description: This artifact is a Power Point presentation required for Art History completion. This detailed and engaging presentation demonstrates the future educator s a!ility to create a successful pro"ect and complete in#depth research for the su!"ect s topic. The Power Point relates to $nTA%& %tandard '( perfectly as it demonstrates the a!ility to use methods other than traditional teaching to engage student s minds thus creating a deeper connection to the su!"ect matter !eing taught. Rationale: The Art History Power Point pro"ect is an e)cellent e)ample of a successful !lend of research* Power Point s+ills* and art education. $n creating this presentation* $ learned an incredi!le amount of information across many a,enues as $ diligently researched the topic. $nTA%& %tandard '( as+s for a teacher understanding and usage of a ,ariety of instructional strategies that may !e used to encourage* stimulate* and de,elop a deeper understanding of the su!"ect matter presented. -y professor used Power Point to introduce art history at a new* technical le,el as we stro,e to disco,er art and how it is used in our o,ere)posed culture. .eing forced to learn how to de,elop a Power Point pro"ect is challenging as an adult. /et* understanding the software details can help an instructor teach their

class with Power Point* teach the children how to create their own pro"ects for optimum engagement* and teach the students how to perform proper research. %tudents are usually far !eyond their instructors in the manner of technology. 0ngaging a child in a su!"ect that they are good at and en"oy helps to create a fun* energetic classroom atmosphere. This positi,e atmosphere demonstrates to a student that classwor+ is not all drudgery thus engaging e,en the hardest to reach children. $nTA%& %tandard '( focuses on helping the student reach a deeper su!"ect understanding and !uild s+ills to apply that understanding. This artifact represents this focus !ecause it encouraged this student to research all le,els of art* whether $ cared for the selections or not* and apply my research to create a Power Point that demonstrates how art can touch millions of people in a large ,arieties of ways. -y students can use Power Point presentations for su!"ect they li+e or disli+e with the same positi,e results !ecause* for a child* the focus is on the fun of ma+ing the presentation not necessarily how much they li+e the presentation su!"ect. Reflections: $ thoroughly en"oyed creating this Power Point presentation and did not reali1e until reflection how much $ truly learned a!out the su!"ect. $ cannot wait to apply a ,ariety of instructional methods to my lesson plans so $ can also stimulate and 2tric+3 my students into learning su!"ects they may otherwise find dull and !oring. $ was also pleasantly surprised to disco,er that $ could create a pro"ect such as this since $ did !elie,e that $ did not ha,e a shred of technical sa,,y. 4ow $ +now that technology is e)citing and not scary or frustrating. Learning Goals: This assignment has encouraged me to research other manners in which $ may educate in my classroom and to loo+ forward to mentoring with other seasoned educators to disco,er how they use a ,ariety of instructional methods for their students.
