COURSE SELECTION

*Within electives in grades 10, 11, or 12, 4 credits must be a Fine Art &/OR Applied Skill course.

Other Ways to Get Credits: 1. 2. Independent Directed Studies: This allows you to shape and follow your own course(s) with a teachers approval and supervision. External Credentials: If you excel in some areas outside of school (Cadets, involvement in provincial/national teams, driver education courses, etc.), you might earn credits for it. Distributed Learning: Where you can take a course anywhere, anytime if your school does not offer that course or your schedule is too full.

3.

Dual Credit Programs: The Dual Credit Programs are very advantageous, because it can provide a free semester of classes in a post-secondary school. Or if you go for the trades Dual Credit, you can get hands-on experience of the trade you want to enroll in. Dual Credit programs give grade 12 credits as well as a post-secondary credential. Students who already know what type of career they want to go in would be very suited to applying for the Dual Credit Programs. Task 3: 1. 2. The current graduation requirements are fair, but students dont seem to be trying hard enough. The high-school completion rate for School District 23 is 76 per cent -three percentage points below the provincial average (http://www.castanet.net/news/Kelowna/5454/Local-Graduation-Rate-Falls-Short). The benefits are that women get first-hand experience on the trades programs, and get the knowledge they need to decide which trade to pursue. Source: http://www.okanagan.bc.ca/Page19415.aspx
