Concept of Three Phase and Single Phase Concept of Single Phase A Single Phase power system is one where there is only one AC voltage source (One source waveform) as shown in fig 1. A Polyphase power system uses multiple voltage sources at different phase angles from each other (many"phases"of voltage waveforms at work). A polyphase power system can deliver more power at less voltage with smaller-gauge conductors than single -or split- phase systems. Here we have shown a 3 phase power supply graph. Phase 1,2,3 each having a phase shift of 120 degree between them.as shown in fig 2.
