Step 1
Plan and map your route
On the Internet, research the geography of the approved country you have chosen. Use the internet to help you identify
places you might want to visit, how you might take a trip there, the differences among areas, etc. For example, you can
visit the official Web site of your country, use an online encyclopedia, use the Geography link on the netcountry.com Web
site http://www.netcountry.com/countrys/index.html, or type locations in a search engine to help you identify the places
that fit the lesson and interest you.
Make a Microsoft Word document that lists places you want to visit. Check to make sure that the locations you have entered
include:
All of the countries that your animal is found in
In the countries your animal is found in find:
o One or more major cities with populations of 1,000,000+ (if the country you choose has one)
o One or more cities with population between 500,000 and 999,999 (if the country you choose has one)
o The location where the majority of your animals numbers are found
o Two other major areas where your animal can be found
o The country capital
o The area where major research is happening to save the animal
Four or more other areas of geographical interest within the country. Look for places beyond the familiar tourist
attractions, for example, an old growth forest, a historic site like an abandoned mining town, the geographic center, the
highest peak, and so on. If you do choose a familiar attraction, research its history or try to find unusual information
about it.

the locations you wish to visit and plan the route you wish to take.

postcards.

After having designed your logo, slogan, and t-shirt choose at least three of the following suggestions to display these
on. Create word documents that show how the objects would feature your logo and slogan in Microsoft Word though
it may be easier to do so by hand drawing your image first and then creating them in Microsoft Word. Remember that
the way you represent your logo and slogan (colors and design) must always be the same on all business and
promotional items.

Rough Draft Due Date: ___________ (Rough Draft May Be Hand Written) (50 points)
1. For this project you will turn in 3 items: a letter that is formatted as stated in the top paragraph, a letter that is
formatted without the header and page number, and a properly addressed and stamped envelope. It is your
responsibility to get the envelope your project is not turned in without it.
2. Write a letter that requests information on your topic. You may choose more than one organization and do a
second letter for extra credit. In your letter you should tell them who you are, why you are requesting the
information (not because I am making you), what you are going to do with the information, and ask at least 23 questions about your topic. A company will be far more likely to send information if you seem very
interested.
3. Go on the Internet and find the address for the company. It is important that you find the address for
someone that will be able to help you going to far over a persons head or below a persons head. Look for
the customer service address if you can find it, as they will be the most likely to be able to help you. Make sure
you thank them for their time and efforts to help you.
Use the section on letter writing to follow the proper formatting techniques for your letter. The components you must
have are as follows: date, salutation, company address, your address, main paragraph, body paragraph, conclusion
paragraph, closing, signature, and printed name. Make sure you are formatting the letter as seen in the book including
margins, spacing, etc. This is imperative on a formal letter.
