Course Title High Impact Speaking Course Identification - COMM 45807 Instructor Dr. James D.

D. Trebing Course Completed Spring 2013 Assignment Title Professional Influence Speech Assignment Description The purpose of this speech is to imitate a professional style presentation of persuading people to either buy a product or partake in a new program or service. Your speech must include informational handouts and a PowerPoint slide that will convey your professional expertise on the subject. If you are attempting to promote a service or program, you must be able to present a viable implementation process as well as ease of transitioning to the mentioned program. Reflection While the rest of my work contains academic papers, I decided to share my PowerPoint presentation as a representation of my skills in persuasion and communication. As a communication major, being proficient in public speaking is an absolute MUST. Many people have a difficult time speaking in front of a large group of people, which can detrimental if you are trying to sell a product or program. Not being confident in your speaking and persuasion abilities will convey a lack of confidence in what you are selling. This presentation shows my confidence in my presentation abilities. I was extremely satisfied with my presentation on meditation. Having been practicing meditation for over a year, I was confident in my knowledge on the subject, as well as being able to persuade others to try it. Looking back, there is not much I would like to change about this presentation. My professor had several positive remarks on my performance and was overall satisfied with my presentation

Question: How will you continue to handle stress throughout your life? Will you continue to consume pharmaceuticals and booze, only to see your mind and body deteriorate? Or, will you practice meditation daily, and watch yourself become a whole new you?

During your lunch break, find a nice, quiet place to sit. Sit cross-legged or in a chair, and close your eyes. Concentrate on your breath, rather than your thoughts. For your first time, do it for five minutes. From then, increase your time for each session. Be patient. Your thoughts will continue to race, but over time you will be able to control these thoughts. If you wish, you can repeat phrases during your session to improve your well being. Example: I am free from pressure. I am confident and capable.
