The Make Up of Matter Does Matter!

By Rachel!

! !

We claim that matter is in everything. There are three forms of matter, solids, liquids, and gasses. An example of a solid is a pencil. An example of a liquid is water. An example of a gas is Oxygen. There are two kinds of matter, dark matter and regular matter. Dark matter is in black holes. Regular matter is everywhere. The more matter there is in an object, the more mass it has. For example, a car has more mass than a pencil because the car has more matter in it. You are always touching matter, yet you can't see or feel it. Forms of matter can be transferred to different forms of matter. For example, if you boil water, the steam rises into the air and turns into a gas. Matter can't be destroyed or created. All in all, we claim that matter is in everything.! The pH chart helped us gure out the pH level of different substances. The pH 14 is the most dangerous. When we mixed baking soda and coffee we ended up with a pH of 14. When we mixed two higher leveled substances the pH turned into a lower pH level. Some substance's pH levels are effected more than others. When we mixed baking soda and H2O, the pH level was eight. When Jada went to the ocean, salt water got in her eyes and her eyes turned red and felt like they were burning. Her tears are going to be a pH level of six, and the salt water would be somewhere between eight and ten. When you are swimming and you get pool water in your mouth, your rst reaction is to spit it out. Chlorine water has a pH level of 7.5 and it is not good for your body. We mixed no iodine salt and baking soda and it became a pH of twelve. When you mix two substances that have the same pH level, the pH will stay the same. Your saliva in your throat has a pH of ve to six. When you drink a different substance it temporarily changes your pH. My experience is when I drink soda, my mouth gets full of zz, and my saliva's pH is 4.5. When you throw up, your pH level is temporarily changed to one, that's why it hurts your throat. When we were doing the pH tests, all of the soda's had citric acid in them, and were all a pH level of four. When we did the pH tests, the lemon juice was a pH of three. Vinegar has a pH of two. In conclusion, there are many different pH levels.! I claim that when we put the steel wool in the vinegar, the temperature rose. My furnace turns on and heats up the house because of natural gas oil, geothermal, biomass, or solar energy. When your body digests, it creates heat. The action of your heart pumping blood also creates body heat. When your car engine starts up, it mixes the gas, and picks up speed. As the engine heats up, so does your

car. In conclusion, I claim that heat is created in different ways.! I claim that magnetic elds push and pull at each other and attract certain metals into a magnetic eld. You can not always see magnetic elds such as Black Holes that are in space. Positives attract negatives, but not other positives, and vice versa. Magnetic can be as small as an atom, yet as big as a star. All in all, we do not know much about magnetic elds.! Borlaug, Mendeleev, and Curie all loved science. Borlaug and his staff in Mexico spent almost 20 years growing a high protein wheat to save people from starvation. Mendeleev created the periodic table of elements. Marie Curie discovered the elements Radium and Polonium. In conclusion, we cannot live without matter.! I claim that the periodic table shows many of the elements. The elements are shown by one or two letters. It is in order by the number of protons. They are grouped by Noble Gases, halogens, metalloids, alkali metals, and more.
