Welcome to School!

Dear Parents and/or Guardians, My name is Miss James and I will be your childs teacher this year. This is my first year teaching and my first year in the _______ grade! A little bit of background on me is that I grew up in West Unity, Ohio with a family of four. In 2014, I graduated from Spring Arbor University with my bachelors degree in special education and general education. With my knowledge in special education, I hope to pull in a lot of differentiation into the classroom so I can tailor to the unique learning style of each students needs and create an environment where your student feels comfortable and excited to learn. During this school year, your child will be engaging in a number of lessons and activities that I have prepared for language arts, science, math and social studies. In each subject area, I hope to create fun and hands on learning through the use of many visual aids and manipulatives that your child can engage and interact with. I will also be incorporating group work among student to build a strong community of learners where students will feel comfortable and free to share their personal thoughts and ideas. This is just a brief description of the learning that will be taking place throughout the year. To keep you updated, I will be sending home weekly newsletters so that you are always informed. Your childs success this year is my ultimate goal and would love to have frequent homeschool communication. It is my hope that this note will be the basis for a great deal of dialogue and communication between us. Through weekly newsletters and occasional notes home, I hope to communicate with you not only what is taking place throughout the year, but also your students individual progress. I would also love to include pictures and occasional videos of the class as we and explore together, so I have attached a slip for your permission to photograph/video tape your child. If you have any questions or concerns about what is taking place in the classroom or about your childs learning, please feel free to contact me. I would love to talk and help in any way to aid in the success of your child. At the beginning of the school year, on August 21st, we will have an Open House. While this is not mandatory, it is very important that you attend this event. During Open House, I will explain the homework policies, grading, disciplinary plan, as well as classroom procedures that will be practiced throughout the year. I will also be answering any questions that may present themselves during this time. I am very excited for this year and I am very much looking forward to having your child in my class and the opportunity to learn and grow together. Thank you for your time and I look forward to meeting you soon! Sincerely, Miss. Ali James
