Gary Wood Ceramics - invited artist

Gary Wood makes pots and wall pieces in stoneware and porcelain. He has exhibited his work nationally and internationally in America, Japan, Germany and New Zealand. Ideas for work come from architecture, land and seascape; textures and surfaces encountered through travelling in North Africa, Venice and New York. The process of carving, painting, layering, over-painting and multiple firing all contribute to the rich depth and surface texture. A bowl can become a contemplative universe as well as a functional object. Gary also teaches pottery to people of all ages and abilities, including special needs, in schools and at his studio in Bath. w e t garywoodceramics.co.uk gary@garywoodceramics.co.uk 07842 420784 / 01225 858888

Peter Hayes Ceramics

Peters work is influenced by the artefacts and objects from other cultures and by his extensive travels through Africa, Asia and New Zealand. Erosion and change through time and nature are recorded in each piece. The minerals, like iron and copper that he introduces into the Raku ceramic surface have their own effect on the clay. This erosion process continues with sanding so that the texture and cracks do not interrupt the surface but become an organic, integral part of the patina. Each individual piece takes on its own history its own aesthetic. Peter has exhibited extensively and his work is in many public and private collections. w e t peterhayes-ceramics.uk.com peterhayes@peterhayes-ceramics.uk.com 01225 466215

Weather permitting, there will be clay in the garden for children to do some making! w e claredayceramics.com info@claredayceramics.com

Vicky Sander Automata, patchwork/embroidery

This year the inspiration for my automata and patchwork embroidery is dragons and mythical, medieval beasts. I use richly coloured fabrics and embellish pictures with embroidery. My quirky automata have simple movements that enhance their different stories. In woodturning I am making little boxes in beautiful woods and exploring different forms. The Bath woodturning group will demonstrate woodturning in my garden workshop. e vicky.sander@hotmail.co.uk
