Many districts are using a variety of Student Information Management Systems (SIMS). One of the most popular in Idaho is PowerSchool. Review the resources on Bb. Discuss the information available via the parent portal. The parental portal is a great tool for parents, teachers and students. It has many features including a current grade book (only shows their students grades), and their up to date attendance. It also shows a calendar with upcoming assignments and notes. The teacher can also post completed assignments so parents can look at them and go over them with students. Other items included are balances on lunch money and school fees. Any comments can be posted to and from teachers and parents. The parental portal is a student information management system.

Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) is a neutral group that develops standards that allow districts to select applications to use in their classrooms. This allows instructional and administrative software to be shared across multiple applications. SIF simplifies data exchange and gives the school districts immediate access to all data so they can make immediate decisions. This information can also include data stored in other applications. Describe PowerSchool. Include several screen captures. PowerSchool is a web based student information system. It also stores data and incorporates student information along with teachers and parent interactions. It manages families, classroom attendance, and faculty, addresses and discipline measures. PowerSchool reports on students assessments and records.
