Part 4 of the presentation: Reviews (Anthi Kyriacou)

1st Slide My role in this presentation is to analyze some of the critiques that have been written about this particular show. The finding of them though was quite difficult,

CLICK
2nd Slide Since no real Contemporary Art Magazine has covered the Come and See exhibition.

CLICK
3rd Slide Newspapers and magazines as The Independent, The Guardian, Time Out London and similar others, that have covered the show, dont respond to it with the best words and all those commends are moving around the following question: What, exactly, do the Chapman Brothers want to convey, what is the purpose of their art?

CLICK
4th Slide Through research that we have done as a team these are some of the comments that these newspapers and magazines have made.

CLICK
5th Slide There is criticism for each piece in the exhibition

CLICK
6th Slide These are some of the most abrasive:

CLICK
7th Slide The guardian says about the KKK figures that are not frightening or funny,

CLICK
8th Slide Not quite striking or forceful. We dont even notice them after a while.

CLICK
9th Slide The Independent commenting on the Kino Klub Video

CLICK
10th Slide Showing in the central gallery says: Hollywood horror is itself Pastiche,

CLICK
11th Slide So making it more so, doesnt necessarily add to it. Under the knowledge though

CLICK
12th Slide that these are middle-class papers a query impels itself to the frond;

CLICK
13th Slide Whose applause do they receive? Obviously the contemporary art-press ignores them but we cannot ignore that being at the show it really does something, not indispensably shocking but more like entertaining. Just like.

CLICK
14th Slide A Blockbuster movie which everybody wants to watch although nothing really deep can be received from it.

CLICK
15th Slide The say, their aim is not to shock or intimidate. But again, they were never clear on this issue and their comments are always in conflict from interview to interview, each one is juxtaposition to another. Its like they are aiming for this miscommunication but when some contradicts himself so much its hard to take him seriously.
