Curriculum Plan
Topic/Title of Lesson: What Will I See At The Zoo? Board Focused Domain: Language

Goal: Help children learn the different kinds of zoo animals there is.

Objective: Children will cut out pictures from magazines of zoo animals and paste them to the board.

Procedure: At large group children will be notified of the activity taking place, they will be cutting
pictures of zoo animals and pasting them in to a big board. The board will have the letters, what will I see at the zoo? In small groups of five, children will first cut pictures of animals from magazine and lastly they will paste them onto board.

Advanced Preparation: Have magazines of zoo animals and board available with the words
what will I see at the Zoo? already on it and ready to present.

List Materials:

Scissors, magazines, board with letters, and glue sticks.

Developmental Benefits:

Language, Cognitive, Physical, Social, Emotional and Creative.

Future Plans: Simplify: If children need to practice cutting, I will draw a shape around the piece
they want to cut.

Challenge: As they paste the pictures in the board, I will ask them what are the sounds that each of
the animals make.

Advanced Preparation: Had practiced reading the book a few times and ready to present, in order
for the story to flow smoothly. Identify the predictable parts to engage children in story.

Objective:

Children will act out the story book characters with action verbs from the story.

Procedure : After having heard the story of My Heart is Like A Zoo a few times in previous days .
Children are going to reenact the story. First, an explanation and demonstration will be given to let them know they could reenact as they perceive it to be. Second, the Props that children made previously will be passed out according to children that volunteer for the dramatization. Finally, the story will be read for the reenactment.

Advanced Preparation: Have the props and book in a container and ready to begin at circle time.

List Materials:
Already made animal props from story book. Book: My Heart is Like A Zoo.

Developmental Benefits:

Future Plans: Simplify: If child doesnt really know what to do give examples for the child to act
out and let them do it for self.

After previous demonstration at large group with animal shapes the concept of small and big. Children will be asked to play an individual activity with animal figures and put them from smallest to biggest.

Advanced Preparation: Have shapes cut out and laminated to present the activity individually.

Google images of animals, scissors, laminating sheets, and tape.

Future Plans: Simplify: Scaffold and ask child which shape is smaller than the other. Challenge: Add more animal figures to the activity.

Procedure: In large group children will be mentioned that an individual activity will take place
where they will arrange a pattern with colored bears. First, at a table, having all the materials, a demonstration of the pattern AB, AB will be placed and lastly, the child will be asked to finish the pattern.

Advanced Preparation:

Have manipulatives in a bucket and colored stripes available, so each child is able to play individually.

they roll the dice a number will show that indicates what figure they will color. Step 1:In a group of five , children will be instructed to play and roll the dice . Step 2: Children will then color one of the six pictures indicated by the dice.

In small groups of five children will Step1: color the Penguin, Lion, and dolphin pictures.Step2: children will then cut the pictures. Step: 3 children will paste the picture to the habitat picture indicating land, water or land/water.

Advanced Preparation: Have 3 pictures per child indicating the land, water and land/water
already colored for them. Have the sheets of the animals printed out for the activity.

domestic and which are wild. In small groups of five children will; Step1: color the pictures of a dog, cat, and lion. Step2: children will cut the animal pictures. Step3: children will paste the animal pictures into two pictures, one of a house and the other of a jungle.

Advanced Preparation: have two sheets of both the house and jungle per child already colored
for them, copies of animals coloring sheets one per child. Colors checked and scissors.

glue sticks.

activity will take place. In small groups of five children will Step1: paint the paper plate with whatever color they like. Step2: children will color the eyes, nose and mouth pieces from the sheet. Step 3: children will cut the eyes, nose and mouth pieces. Step4: children will glue the body parts to the paper plate. Step 5: children will then glue yarn strings to make the lions main.

Advanced Preparation: have paint ready, enough plates, yarn pieces cut for children to glue,
scissors checked and ready for activity.

act out the story book of The Lion and The Mouse . Teacher will first pass out the props that the children made, at a previous activity of the story. Second, teacher will ask for volunteers to act out the lion and the mouse parts of the book but will emphasize that the lines dont have to be exact. Finally, children will reenact along with props the lines from the book.

three children will : Step1: Children will put on smocks and then paint the two large boxes of the cage design. After painting children will then clean brushes in the cups of water.
