I.

OBJECTIVES

1. To familiarized with the sinusoidal voltage and current 2. To learn the actual measurement of an ac voltage

II. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

EQUIPMENT DMM VOM Industrial power supply module Dust single phase oscilloscope Connecting wire ( alligator )

III.

PROCEDURE

1. Connect the current shown figure 1.1 2. Measure and record the terminal voltage 12-0V, 0-12V and 12-12V using VOM 3. Compute and record the maximum voltage (Vmax) average voltage (Vave) and Pick to Pick 4. Repeat procedure 2 and 3 using VMM. 5. Using the data from the table of VMM, Measurment compute and record the instantaneous voltage 12-0V, 0-12V and 12-12V of the terminal.

EQUATION 1

PROCEDURE B 1. 2. 3. 4. Set and adjust before turning-on the oscilloscope Check the calibration of oscilloscope Plug the transformer as shown in figure 1.2 By means of oscilloscope, Observe the wave from the terminal 12-0V, 0-12V and 1212V 5. From the oscilloscope, record the vertical and horizontal division, the volt per division and time per division 6. Sketch the wave from shown in the oscilloscope string for each terminal 7. Compute and record the pick to pick, the period of time and the frequency

VI QUESTIONS: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. List several application in which direct current desirable or necessary What three methods maybe use to developed a voltage? What is the duration of 1 cycle, in seconds? What is meant by term frequency? Define an ac ampere?

VI PROBLEMS: 6. Calculate the average voltage induced in a coil of 300 turns through which the flux changes from 250,000 to 20,000 Maxwell in 0.15 sec. 7. How many turns of wire are there in a coil in which 35.7 volts are induced when the flux through it increases uniformly at the rate of 3x10^6 Maxwell per seconds? 8. Calculate the effective currents in a circuit in which the maximum values of the sinusoidal waves are 8,4 amp, 22.8 amp and 65 ma 9. The rms value of the voltage in a 60-cycle circuits is 115 volts. Write equation for the sinusoidal wave. 10. A voltage wave has the equation e=1170 sin . Calculate the instantaneous values of voltage for the following angles: 30, 60, 75, 105, 135, 180, 270 and 330 degrees.

ANSWER FOR QUESTIONS: 1. Communication, Transportation, Electroplating, Electro refining and etc 2. (1.) By changing the flux through the coil. (2.) By moving the coil through the magnetic field so that flux cutting results, and (3.) By alternating the direction of the flux with respect to the coil. 3. A cycle is refer to the number frequency with respect to time (seconds). means 1 CYCLE PER SECOND. 4. Frequency is the number of cycles per unit time (seconds). 5. Ac ampere is the current flowing through a given ohmic resistance, , which will produce heat at the same rate as a DC ampere. ANSWER FOR PROBLEMS: 6. 4.6volts 7. 1,190 turns 8. 5.95 amp, 16.1 amp and 46 ma 9. e= 162.6 sin377t 10. 85 , 147, 164, 120, 0, -170, -85 volts.
