Matt Harrop Ms. Flock English 12 3A 3/21/14 Legalize Medical Marijuana Should a plant really be illegal especially if it helps with medical issues? If it was legalized for medical use it could help people in pain and people dying of illness. It could take away the pain instead of being fed pills and different treatment cures. Medical marijuana helps more than damages; it can help with relieving pain, helps with diseases, and eases stress. Marijuana prohibition applies to everyone, including the sick and dying. (Norml.org) Medical Marijuana is not a monster, its not as harmful as everyone thinks. No one wants to be in pain. Cancer, glaucoma, arthritis and other sick patients should consider usage of medical marijuana, it helps with the pain. The marijuana wont make the pain permanently go away, it will just make it more bearable to handle. How would you like sitting there in pain and all theyre giving you is pill after pill, medicine after medicine and you wonder why the patient is still in pain? They think there is a cure in some pills/medicine methods but side effects that reference suicidal thoughts shouldnt be considered medication. You are trying to get better, not give them thoughts of just ending all the pain or suffering. Medical marijuana should be considered to patients that need their pain to manage, not permanently be in their bodies. Diseases can be dealt with medical use. Diseases can be easily forgotten if your medical situation was something not involving pills or pain killers. Some should get to choose what they get; they choose what kind of pain they want to feel. Feeling itchiness, being light headed, not

being able to be normal, is that what we want people to feel. I feel like patients would rather be in pain that is as small as a paper cut then feeling like they got hit by a truck after the pain killers have stopped and the pills have worn off. If it was legal then hospitals could use it and it could be used instead of pain killers.(debate.org) Patients in hospitals should be able to live without having to feel pain everyday of their lives. Stress will make your head turn grey. Patients can relax and have little worry on the future, you know why? Theyre using medical marijuana to help establish a way of making it seem theyre going to be okay, theyre going to be fine. It can make them sleep easier at night and not have the struggle of tossing and turning with thoughts flowing in their heads. We need help to relax and marijuana can help. It has more advantages than disadvantages, and there is no evidence that it kills humans or is harmful for humans. (debate.org) People with mental issues can establish a right to be normal and free by just taking the time and asking their therapist/doctor to prescribe it. Medical Marijuana can help the grey hairs stay away for a bit longer. Theres always a different way of looking at the situation. Theres always the saying that people wanted to get a bigger high so marijuana would be a gateway drug. People go from marijuana to ecstasy, mushrooms, cocaine, etc... "A new federal report released today concludes the younger children are when they first use marijuana, the more likely they are to use cocaine and heroin and become dependent on drugs as adults (US Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)). People arent satisfied with a drug that helps relax; they want the hit that can make it a big high. There are also people saying that if medical marijuana was legal they should also legalize medical cocaine. But, Id rather stick to medical marijuana to be legalized.

Should a plant really be illegal especially if it helps with medical issues? Medical marijuana can help with reliving pain, help with diseases, and help with stress. It can help people with all kinds of problems especially if no one is there to help. Think about cancer patients, what if they didnt have it? Most of them wouldnt be alive here today. 2,421,069 people (going up) currently have a medical card in the United States. (medicalmarijuana.procon.org). Marijuana isnt the monster everyone thinks, especially if its used as a medical source.
