Kristina Harvey Social Justice Semester 6

During the sixth semester I donated items to the Shade Tree. I remember learning about this organization as a first year. I thought it was such a great organization to help women, children, and their pets. I had never heard of a charity that helped individuals as well as their pets. The shelter constantly needs items to supply those who stay there. We received a list from a classmate and I decided to purchase several items from that list. I cannot even imagine what it would be like to transition into living in a shelter, but I would imagine that being supplied with personal items would make the transition a little easier. Donating items to the shade tree was a very simple social justice opportunity for me, but I hope that the individuals who received the items I purchased were pleased to receive them. Sometimes simple donations can make a world of difference, and I hope this was the case with these items.
