PETQ [POINT, EXAMPLE, TECHNIQUE, QUOTES] POINT This is your point about making choices. Try to use the key question words in either the first or second sentence of the body paragraph to make it clear you are answering the given question. ELABORATE Write a supporting sentence that elaborates on your first sentence so you move from the general to the specific and clarify how your point is relevant to the set question and idea expressed in thesis statement. (Could be two if it is a complex idea). EXAMPLE OF TECHNIQUE Refer to the technique, use an example from the set text that proves or supports your point. Remember not to recount, but analyse the effect of the techniques in terms of the point you are attempting to make. Do not begin a sentence with when or you are set ting up your sentence structure to recount plot/events rather than analyse. Instead, put the technique first which forces you to discuss the effect. QUOTATION Use a quotation from the set text that actually demonstrates the technique described above, and relates to making choices and your thesis idea. To pack in more depth and detail you can also then add another technique and quotation that extends and develops your idea. TIE IN Tie in/link back to original question, thesis statement using the key question words.
